Cape Breton Hiking Day 2

Mark was cooking breakfast when I got up and I did the scrambled eggs.  It was fun to be in the kitchen cooking breakfast for more than 1.  Mark had cooked the potatoes the day before in the microwave and he was cutting it up and pan frying it.  We had toasted cinnamon bread with lots of butter.  Breakfast was ample.

At 8 am, we were out of the front door on to our next adventure of more hiking.  This morning was a hike to Egypt Falls.  It was a long hike down hill and after I got to the end, I stepped into mud and shoes were all covered in it.  Met the rest of the group coming back up.  To get down to the fall, it was a very steep descent and a rope was provided.  I decided not to take the risk and got Jon to take my camera down instead.

After Egypt fall, we stopped by the road side and spent some time taking pics and playing with the friendly horses.  The leaves are so awesome looking and it's actually better than what the camera can captured.

We stopped at a few places, including the Park Center at Cheticamp, to pay for admission.  Here are some pictures but I definitely cannot tell you where the places are though.

The highlight of the day was Skyline Trail.  We had our lunch at the trail head.  Instead of nan we had wrap and more of the same as the day before.

Wrote Wikipedia...The Skyline Trail is a seven-kilometre, looping, hiking trail in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.  It lies on the western side of the Cabot Trail, near French Mountain's summit.  The trail is well known for its scenic views, but also for the 2009 fatal coyote attack on Taylor Mitchell (a Canadian Folk Singer Song Writer)

Only now I knew about the coyote attack.  Thank you for the safe lone hike; it was good I had God to converse with on the hike otherwise it can be pretty boring.  I had wanted to see a moose so I asked God to show me one.  To my surprise, I spotted a large animal by the bushes.  The head was hidden and when it turned I saw the big ears but I did not see the horn.  Later only when I saw a couple, he say it's a cow moose (female moose).  It was really awesome when God was gracious to let me have a glimpse of a moose.  No one else in the group saw a moose..

It was a very pleasant 7 km hike (the rest did the 9 km) and I had survived my second day of hiking.  After that we got into another hostel.  I don't care if I cannot remember the name cos it was not a very nice place.  To begin with 7 of us stayed in one room.  Oh my, I have never slept with so many men inside one room before.  At least the dinner was good, we had burger, frozen fresh burger and it was good!  Will have to buy a pack one day.
