Peggy Cove, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg

20th October, Jon (from Cape Breton trip) and I set off to Peggy Cove.  Since he was traveling by himself alone in a rented car, I decided to tag along and offered to pay half of the rented car cost of $40 and a lunch treat as well.

When we got to Peggy's Cove, the tourists were in already (2 cruise ships landed in Halifax that morning).  Peggy's Cove, besides the lighthouse, it's famous for it's rugged terrain with massive rock that formed a natural platform to walk on.

It was a very windy day and we managed to go around the shops (for safe haven from the cold wind) and walked a bit and took lots of pic. After that we had lunch in the one and only restaurant in Peggy's Cove.  I had the fried scallop and it was really good (I definitely need to try cooking it one day).

On the way, we went to Swiss Air flight 111 memorial.  Later I googled and apparently there was a fight at the cockpit which resulted in the crash into the water and none survived on this fatal day, 2 Sept 1998.

We go into Mahone and there was really nothing much to do and we just took a few photos.

Thereafter it was to Lunenburg.  A quick stop at the visitor center and really it's closed to end of season and it was late afternoon too and most shops were closed.  Mentioned to drive around to take some awesome pic.

I checked into Atlantic Sojourner B&B and I was the only guess so I got to pick up my room.  I settled on a room with a bath tub.  It's a very beautiful place with 4 bedrooms and ran by 2 American ladies probably in their late 60s for 12 years.  Sadly they are looking to sell the place for $500K plus as they want to retire and see the world.  The place opens from late May to end Oct.  If I get a chance, I will come back to stay again.

Dinner was in town but not many choices.  We settled for Grand Bank and I had the tenderloin which was really good.  It was a long time since I had a good cut of beef for dinner.  It was really nice to have someone to dine with.

After dinner, it was back to the hotel for a time of relaxation and enjoyment.  It's really a very nice and peaceful place, sparkling clean too.  After a nice warm bath, I went downstairs and watch TV, enjoyed the tea, ate the cookies and surfed the net.  The bed was really very comfy and I had a good night rest.

Breakfast was superb with the nice cutlery and it was definitely prepared with lots of passion and love.   Too bad, I had to leave early, back to Halifax.  Jon has to catch his train to Montreal at noon and I need to take a flight to Dublin at 8 pm.
